Alex Hale received his Law Degree from the University of Toledo College of Law and his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Findlay. Alex joined Surdyk, Dowd & Turner in 2019. Alex’s prior work experience includes working for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office Civil Division, the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office Civil Division, and a criminal defense firm in Toledo. While in law school Alex interned at the Toledo City Prosecutor’s Office where he prosecuted criminal misdemeanor cases under attorney supervision. While in law school he also achieved the highest grade in his Criminal Law Practice class, and was a member of the International Law Moot Court Team, participating in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Additionally, he won the Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar Distinguished Law Student Award for an article he wrote as a law student on claims trading in bankruptcies.
Alex has experience defending political subdivisions in civil actions including § 1983 civil rights actions, claims for medical negligence, wrongful death actions, and against employee claims of retaliation and discrimination. Alex has successfully represented townships in nuisance abatement and injunction actions before common pleas courts and in objections to liquor permits before the Ohio Department of Liquor Control. He has represented counties and townships in numerous zoning matters, and continues to do so at Surdyk, Dowd & and Turner Co., L.P.A. Alex has appeared in numerous dog designations hearings on behalf of dog wardens and relief from weapons disability hearings on behalf of the state.
